No More Lock Out

The NBA has finally come to an agreement with the players having 51% and the owners getting 49%. Got to love missing many teams play just because they wanted one more percent than the original offer of 50-50. When you grow up as a kid splitting something 50-50 was all ways the fair thing to do. Why do we change? The answer is money. As soon as money is involved people become greedy and arrogant. The saying is true in my mind that money is the root of all evil. Would these players play for free? I believe some would just for the love of the game. Agents is what make this sport and baseball, and football a money hungry industry. To reach an agrrement the owners and players had an exhausting, 15-hour negotiation session. So after 149 days of the lockout an agreement is finally reached. The training camps will start on Dec. 9 and we will now havea 66-game season beginning on Dec. 25 compared to the normal 82 game season. On opening day of the season which is Christmaswe will three great games to kick it off: Boston at New York, an NBA Finals rematch of Miami at Dallas, and Chicago at the Los Angeles Lakers. I am excited that we have a season now and hope my team(Thunder) can do work again this year. Calling Durant as the MVP this year. LA Lakers Forward Pau Gasol on twitter said," After the recent news about the possible end of the #lockout , we're all excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel! #WeLoveThisGame." Lucky we did have the light at the end of the tunnel before the fans starting rebelling if their was going to be no season. Cheer for your team and I hope we have a great season this year, just like last season.

OU stands for Over Rated University

SO at the beggining of this year OU college footbal where ranked number 1 in the nation. They had ESPN all access covering them like it was their Natinal title year. The defense wheer called the sharks. Well I have seen them be sharks in 2 games this year and it was against 2 ok teams. That was Florida STate and TExas. Other than that the defense has no right to call themselves sharks anymore. Travis Lewis better take the shark out of his pathetic haircut this weekend, because he and hi9s defense do not deserve the title. The reason for all this is the 45-38 loss against Baylor University last night. Wjhat the hell is Bob Stoops thinking calling a time out with 46 seconds on the clock on Baylors 33 yard linewhen they clearly where trying to go to overtime. With Stoops calling the time out it gave Baylor the chance to throw it and Robert Griffing the 3rd proved he is a great Quarteback on that winning drive. DEfense should be covering that endzone on the last play like their season depended on it, which it did. You are Oklahoma University how do you think you can not beat Baylor in overtime. As a Sooner fan I am not blaming Stoops for the loss, but that time out at the end was a big factor in the loss. I am excited for next year now because of Blake Bell( The Bell Dozer). I think he will be the man to lead them to a national title if Landy Jones goes pro. THis is an overrated Oklahoma team and I believed we where a national title team, but the Tech loss, and now Baylor loss proves otherwise. Sad loss boys, but keep your head up and dominate Iowa State next week, then absolutely dominate in the Bedlam game.

Flinch of the week

Week 9 of the NFL saw some impressive games. Philip Rivers threw for 6 touchdowns, but 2 of them where for the other team, which help the Packers to stay undefeated. The Patriots lost to the Giants snapping a 32 home win streak. Tim Teabow got himself another win in the NFL. The story of my blog today is about quarterback Mark Sanchez. Sanchez Flinched because Bills CB Drayton Florence Scared the Jets Quarterback Before Snap making him looking scared and foolish out their. Sanchez was lined up on the line of scrimmage, when Florence made Sanchez flinch and I thought sanchez handled it well by laughing it off during the play. He was called for holding on the play too. This will for sure make sports centers not top 10 this Friday. To see the flinch check out this website. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/06/mark-sanchez-flinch-drayton-florence-jets-bills_n_1079004.html

World Series

We have reached the end of the baseball season with the St Louis Cardinals winning the world series. What an outstanding achievement for this ball club. David Freese who hit .348 average, 1 home run and seven runs batted in. He was the MVP of the series. Game 6 in my mind proved St Louis were destined to win the world series. The rangers were one strike away in game six not once but twice from winning the World Series. Freese came up clutch in the ninth inning of that game to tie it at 7-7. . Rangers scored two runs in the top of the 10th off a Josh Hamilton home run. Then Lance Berkman tied the game in the bottom of the 10th. Then in the bottom of the 11th MVP David Freese said sorry bout it to the rangers and forced a game seven with a solo home run. St Louis won game 7, 6-2. In my mind this was one of the most impressive teams in baseball history. If the Phillies do not sweep the Braves the last three games of the season St Louis never would have earned the wild card. they were ten and a half games back in the wild card on September second and our now World champions. This is a remarkable under dog story and all credit is due to Tony laRussa. He in my mind deserves manager of the year. To be able to work with so much adversity this season and still win a world serious is a true story of what champions do. Sad to see the season end, but looking forward to the off season trades and the Yankees to be the 2012 World champions.

Sports and social media anti strategy

The reason for this post is to talk about Carson Palmer the former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback. He was recently traded to the Oakland Raiders. Palmer has not played all year and we have heard very little about him this year. We knew that he was under contract still with the Bengals at the start of this year, and wanted out and the Bengals would not trade him, hence why Andy Dalton is the starting QB, and why they drafted him. With Palmer being benched and now traded to the Raiders brings more talk in the sports world. The point of this blog is to talk about Palmer's anti strategy. Think about it, we have not heard a thing about him this entire year. Now we hear he is traded just like that, when the Bengals said they would not trade Palmer. Oakland did give up a big payoff with a potential first round draft choice. With Palmer not having a Twitter account, or being in the limelight, did this strategy end up getting him where he is now? Think about it he stays away from potential stories and rumors, he was able to sit back and not let social media tools obtain him from playing. I do believe that by having the anti social media strategy was an impact to creating a deal so quietly and under the radar without rumors or anything, until the day he signed, which was only Monday.

Failure with Technology

I was trying to cover the Vikings and bears game tonight on cover it live, but could not link it to my blog page. I am not that great with computers yet but still learning. Looking forward to streaming my first live event for the Jets and Dolphins game for Monday Night football now. On another note how about the Texas Rangers this post season. Nelson Cruz had 6 homeruns and 13 RBI for the ALCS. That is an MVP for you. I love post season baseball and being so close to Dallas it is fun to see the Rangers go back to back to the world series. Hopefully I can catch a live game in Arlington. Follow my live blog tomorrow night for the Chalker sports freak version of Monday Night Football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yankees part 2

I needed the weekend to cool off after the loss to Detroit in Game 5 of the ALDS. I needed to cool off because I had many things that I would have said about the Yankees out of spite and emotion. I have had time to analyze the game and asess each situation. Yes Nova started off the game with back to back homeruns to Young and, Kelly. After that their was only one more run and it came from C.C Sabathia giving up a hit to Victor Martinez to score that run. How does a team as good as the Yankees not produce with loaded bases not once in the game but twice, and have nothing positive to show from it. The seventh inning of the game was the turning point. When Alex Rodriguez came up to bat with one out and loaded bases in the bottom of the seventh I thought it was gonna be game over. It was just for the Yankees because A-rod struck out to lose all hope. Texeria walked and that left Swisher to make something else of the inning, but he struck out too. I give all the credit to the tigers pitching staff. They got it done. However A-Rod has a lifetime batting average of .277 in the Playoffs but  this series he hit .111. I am not saying I could do better, but he should be able to. How are you Mr. baseball and Mr. Anti clutch at the same time. The best way i can put it is that A-rod must drive an automatic because he obviously can not handle the clutch. The season is not to blame because of Rodriguez, but my point is in 2012 do you want to have him as your 3rd baseman and waste that money to another post season destruction. Or do what the yankees do best and buy some other talented third baseman. As a yankee fan my dream would be to get rid of A-rod, and sign Hanley Ramirez from the Marlins. Within doing this I would move Jeter to 2nd base and move my favourite player, Robinson Cano to 3rd. With Texeria at 1st base that is your world series winning teram. If A-rod stays with the team, which he probably will, I hope he uses this off season to heal his injuries and get his head right and become clutch like he did in 2009, when they one the world series.

Yankees

The New York Yankees are proving what Champions do when it needs to be done. A.J Burnett stepped up big last night throwing for 5 2/3. It was shakey in the first inning when AJ had the bases loaded with two outs, but MVP caliber season man Curtis Granderson came up clutch with a catch over his head to keep the game tied in the first inning. The hitters produced when needed and it was a great 10-1 victory to force a game five and keep a world series victory in site. Brett Gardener has been the man that is the difference in this line up from what I have obsereved so far. The past 2 nights he has got a hit when needed and is a key player to their offense. The Yankees Twitter account @Yankees had a tweet from Burnett saying, "Burnett: "Once that first inning was over after Curtis saved me, I was able to take a breath, and then our offense took over." People have been congradulating the Yankees all over their twitter sites and media outlets. Keep up the good press Yankees and A-Rod will come through big time in game five and the rest of this post season. We all know the best hitter on that line up is Robinson Cano, in my mind the prettiest swing in Major League baseball.

Sports and social media

The first person that comes to mind when you think of sports and social media is Chad Ochocinco. Last week he said on his twitter account, "Just waking up after a late arrival,I've never seen a machine operate like that n person,to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW."  He caught one reception for 14 yards while Tom Brady threw for 511 yards. Once again this week the Patriots offense looked amazing and Ochocinco did not play a down. The tight ends Aaron Hernandez and RobGronkowski. With Ochocinco tweeting what he did, he was basically saying he enjoyed just watching the game and not being a factor. Learn the playbook stop trying to tweet and be hip and play football like you used to. I think without social media in sports Ochocinco would not get as much flack as the media does. He is a talented player but needs to stop caring about technology and caring about the game.

College Football

I have only been living in America for 5 years now and absolutely love college football. I have lived in California and Oklahoma and the Oklahoma fans are more dedicated than anyone I have ever seen. BOOMER SOONER. My topic today consists of Texas A&M going to the Southern Eastern Conference(SEC). I was watching sports center earlier and heard that they have accepted A&M into the conference. What was wrong with the big 12 conference? The sad thing is that we say professional sports players are money hungry, when college is teaching us the same thing. The reasons for all the change in conferences is strictly money driven. With A&M leaving the Big 12 Oklahoma will probably be joining the soon to be pac 16. This will destroy the Big 12 conference and force other schools to go else where too. I would love for Texas and Oklahoma State University to follow Oklahoma because their is to much tradition for these schools to compete against each other. College football is a Multi Billion dollar industry and everyone is out to get a piece of the pie, even the players. We have seen this in the past, but are the players to blame or the schools? I believe the schools are. If I was Reggie Bush I would have taken everything USC was offering him. Who wouldn't? The Big 12 is still a great conference which is why i do not understand why A&M wanted out. Thats right they wanted a better TV deal for more money so the SEC was a better business proposition. If you look at the BCS standings right now three of the top 10 schools are from the big 12 conference. Plus Baylor beat down TCU on the weekend. The conference is still strong but money is power in this world and the society we live in greed and power will all ways come first. I am a fan that would love to see a playoff system for college football. That will never happen because too many schools and television programs will lose too much money because their will not be as many bowl games. As a fan you want to see the best beat the best. A playoff system creates that. I do not care that schools are moving to different conferences. What I do care about is seeing Oklahoma winning a national title and for sports to spot being so money driven.
